🎯 Let’s Make Legal Aid Make Sense (and Feel a Bit Less Scary)

Pro bono work has one major superpower: it brings people together — across differences, across sectors, across those moments when everything feels like a bit too much.

At FinUA, we know this firsthand. We started as a grassroots volunteer effort on 24.02.2022 and became a registered nonprofit in July 2023. Since then, we’ve helped thousands of Ukrainians in Finland with free, anonymous legal and emotional support.

Our pro bono legal model is built on one goal:

make it easier for good lawyers to do good work — without the chaos.

🧩 So, what’s the deal?

We connect lawyers with real people who really need them — no bureaucracy, no back-and-forth, no “what do I even do with this form?” energy. You get a clear request (anonymized, translated, explained), and you give us your take on the solution. We handle the rest.

We’ve already helped in over 600 legal cases — from family reunification and housing nightmares to “can I even stay here?” situations. And yes, we’ve done it all with a team of volunteers who are ridiculously nice. (We don’t know how either.)

🔁 Our Process (a.k.a. How It Works Without Driving You Nuts)

Step 1: People come to us — with real problems, not legal theory.

Step 2: We sort, simplify, and assign cases to the right FinUA volunteer lawyer.

Step 3: You get a clear request. No drama, just the facts, organized by a legal professional.

Step 4: You send us back a response. We pass it to the person. Boom.

Step 5: If it’s useful, we turn your wisdom into knowledge articles for the rest of the community.

No direct contact. No calls at 3 am (like really, nobody will call you). No GDPR nightmares. Just impact.
